Chapter 19

When Zhen Bao got back to the villa and got out of the car, Hei Dan immediately ran towards her at the speed of a hundred meter sprint, overjoyed.

After not seeing her for over a month, Hei Dan had grown bigger again, and the yellow fur on his neck, limbs and belly was more noticeable. His pure black color might scare some, but with his black back and yellow legs, he looked especially docile and honest. Zhen Bao squatted down to hug the dog, and Hei Dan enthusiastically licked her. Zhen Bao tried to block him a couple times, but didn't succeed.

Fu Ming Shi walked around from the driver's side and saw the places on Zhen Bao's face that Hei Dan had licked. His expression was complex.

This dog is too lucky.

Unintentionally catching sight of something between Hei Dan's legs, Fu Ming Shi's lips turned up. He decided not to be petty with a dog.

"Let's go inside first," but he still stroked Hei Dan's head, and told Zhen Bao, while also cutting off the possibility of Hei Dan continuing to lick her.

Zhen Bao smiled and murmured in agreement.

The villa was luxurious. Although Zhen Bao hadn't fallen so low as to want to live here forever, going from the simple dormitory to this extravagantly decorated villa still gave her an involuntary sense of relaxation. Returning to the bedroom on the third floor that belonged to her, Zhen Bao sprawled on the soft bed, just wanting to sleep comfortably.

Someone knocked on the door.

Zhen Bao hurriedly got up and smoothed out the wrinkles on the bed she had made, then flew to open the door.

Fu Ming Shi stood outside. The moment the door opened, Hei Dan and Hei Mao eagerly squeezed through the crack.

"I'm free this afternoon. Let's take Hei Dan to the hospital? First get Hei Dan a check up, then ask what we need to pay attention to before the surgery." Looking at the clueless Hei Dan, Fu Ming Shi said calmly. He had looked online - dogs need to be cared for carefully for about a week after being neutered. Zhen Bao would definitely want to stay with Hei Dan.

Zhen Bao knew what he meant and said awkwardly, "Grandpa Fu doesn't allow it..."

"He's stubborn and set in his ways. Don't listen to him," Fu Ming Shi said without mercy when the old man wasn't around.

Zhen Bao thought of their marriage issue - Fu grandpa was quite conservative.

"Okay, wait a minute, let me wash my face first." She still hadn't washed off the places Hei Dan licked.

Fu Ming Shi's gaze lingered on her slender little face for a few seconds before he went downstairs to wait.

After washing her face, without Zhen Bao calling them, Hei Dan and Hei Mao followed her downstairs together. Hei Dan was very good at guarding the house and would keep barking if a stranger came, but it didn't resist Hei Mao. It curiously circled Hei Mao a few times, got its nose patted by Hei Mao's paws a few times, and then readily accepted this new companion.

The car had been brought around. Fu Ming Shi had Hei Dan get in first. Zhen Bao held Hei Mao and went back to the bedroom, stroking and kissing it to comfort it for a good few minutes before closing the door, filled with guilt. Hei Mao wasn't familiar with the villa yet, and Zhen Bao was afraid it would get lost if it went out.

"Towards A University?" Once in the car, Zhen Bao's gaze dodged as she asked. Fu Ming Shi hadn't changed clothes, but his car was too flashy.

"Let's go to another one," Fu Ming Shi said as he drove out, glancing at the rearview mirror.

Only then was Zhen Bao relieved. She let Hei Dan sit next to her and held onto it to keep it from making trouble. The pet hospital Fu Ming Shi chose was in the opposite direction from A University. After waiting in line for the check up, Hei Dan was very healthy. The doctor gave them some pointers and asked them to bring Hei Dan back tomorrow afternoon for the surgery. Although neutering pets can reduce the risk of disease and prolong their lifespan, Zhen Bao still felt Hei Dan was a little pitiful. She kept Hei Dan company after returning to the villa, barely leaving the room.

The next afternoon, the two brought Hei Dan for neutering as agreed. Hei Dan was in the operating room for over an hour, and when the doctor brought him back out, he was missing two little eggs...

Zhen Bao felt especially bad for Hei Dan, and treated him even better afterwards. For the next few days, you could say they were inseparable.

Fu Ming Shi only had two days to accompany her before flying to Guangzhou on the 3rd, and wouldn't be back until the 6th.

Fu Ming Shi being away didn't impact Zhen Bao much. She played with Hei Dan and Hei Mao, studied, and when she was tired, watched movies - the long break passed enjoyably and fulfilling. At noon on the 6th, she got a call from Fu Ming Shi saying there were changes there, and he would be delayed by a day, only getting back to the capital around 7pm that night. He told Zhen Bao to wait for him so he could take her back to school.

Zhen Bao didn't want him to go to so much trouble and said, "I can go back myself, you don't need to rush back..."

"Wait for me," Fu Ming Shi didn't let her refuse, and hung up after saying that.

After the call ended, Zhen Bao stared at her phone, suddenly not really understanding Fu Ming Shi's thoughts. She was already an adult, a university student, but Fu Ming Shi's attitude towards her, visiting her once a month, picking her up and dropping her off at school, seemed a bit like an adult taking care of a child.

But the next day, Zhen Bao still tidied up her bag early and waited for him at the villa.

At 6:30pm, there were sounds downstairs. Zhen Bao went out to the balcony and happened to see Fu Ming Shi getting out of the car. The man was dressed in a fine suit, neat and tidy, with no visible tiredness from his business trip.

Zhen Bao grabbed her bag and clattered downstairs. When she got to the turn in the stairs on the second floor, she bumped into the villa owner who was coming up.

Zhen Bao smiled at him out of habit. "Have you eaten dinner?"

Fu Ming Shi looked up at her, staring at her sweet smiling face. His eyes gradually darkened, like a starving man who finally saw a meal he had been craving.
